In all seriousness, though, I feel very strongly that Ruby is hindered by
bad development practice in most of the community. This was well reinforced
by Diego Pettenò's writings on this matter in his efforts to improve Ruby
packaging: a number of (very important) packages are only distributed as
gems and don't even have tags in their repos, and there's a lot of tests
that fail spectacularly. Just check out http://blog.flameeyes.eu/tag/ruby .
It's actually quite interesting, if rather scary.
